Il nome CoBrA, coniato nel 1948 dal pittore, teorico e poeta belga Christian Dotremont, è un acronimo formato dalle lettere iniziali delle capitali dei paesi di provenienza (Copenhagen, Bruxelles, Amsterdam) dei principali artisti del gruppo, tra cui il danese Asger Jorn, gli olandesi Karel Appel, Jan Nieuwenhuys, Constant e Corneille, e i poeti surrealisti belgi Christian Dotremont e Joseph Noiret.0Attraverso un'ampia e accurata raccolta di dipinti, sculture, lavori su carta, pubblicazioni, documenti, foto e filmati, il volume presenta l'arte e i protagonisti del gruppo CoBrA, la prima grande avanguardia di respiro internazionale del secondo dopoguerra.
