The Inca princess Zilia is kidnapped by Spanish conquerors, captured by the French after a battle at sea, and taken to Europe. This edition consists of 41 letters, mainly from the Inca princess Zilia to her lover, Aza; v. 1 has letters 1-21, v. 2 has letters 22-41. Letters 39-41 are a translation of: Suite des Lettres d'une Peruvienne / Peine [i.e. Paris], 1747. This second group of letters originally published as a separate work written by Ignace Hugary de La Marche-Courmont.
