Gedruckt zu Oldenburg, 1664 Dedication: "De, hochwürdigen, durchleuchtigen, hochgebornen fürsten und herrn Herrn Johann Moritzen zugenamt dem Americanern, fürsten zu Nassau [etc.]" signed "Hans Just Wynkelmann von Giessen aus Hessen." In the "Vorrede von Johann Staden [etc.]" (p. 132-137) the author there cut in wood. Whether this account appeared in print or not he does not know; but adds that the original woodcuts had recently been found in Cassel and that he had them inserted in this book. The Woodcuts in the present edition are not the same as those in the original edition of Staden, Frankfurt, 1556 (as stated in the catalogue of the Carter Brown collection); they have nothing in common with them With 32 woodcuts in the text, the portrait of Johann Moritz, prince of Nassau, at the beginning of text, and that of Hans Staden at the end |
